This trompe l-oeil mural is on a large rear wall in a courtyard garden in Romford, Essex. We painted it completely freehand in less than two weeks and finished the mural with an exterior varnish that helps bring out the vibrant colours. The customer asked if we could include a little fox in the foreground as she has a wild one that visits every evening.
Trompe-l'oeil archway looking out onto a tropical paradise painted on a flat wall.
The family requested a beach scene and had a rough idea of what they wanted. It was my suggestion to have the illusion of an archway leading out onto a veranda with a window above the [real] radiator to widen the view.
There was originally a set of plug sockets right in the middle of the wall (as well as the ones near the skirting) but these were removed and plastered over before I started my painting. It took 6 days to complete this mural and the clients were very happy with the results.
