As one year comes to a close, the next is ready and waiting – but what does the next 12 months spell for us in terms of interior design trends? More specifically, what is expected for our kitchens?

Fortunately, our trend experts and interior designer friends have been keeping an ear to the ground and they’ve picked up what kitchen colours will be huge for 2019 – and these are not only for walls and floors, but also for furniture, décor and accessories.

Let’s find out what they are…

1. Kitchen colours 2019: Red

Who’s surprised that the most vibrant colour in the rainbow made it onto the list? Red, in all its different variants (from bold Jam and Merlot to sweet Candy and soft Blush), is deemed to be one of the perfect and trendiest tints for 2019’s kitchens.

Try combining it with black and white for an exquisite look!

2. Kitchen colours 2019: Yellow

Another cheery tone joins the 2019 trend list: yellow. But take note that this is a specific hue for kitchens, a sort of Mango, Gold yellow instead of the lighter Lemon or Daffodil tints.

We recommend combining your Mango yellow with greys and small touches of blacks for an unforgettable contemporary look.

3. Kitchen colours 2019: Light green

The third trendiest hue to style up your 2019 kitchen is one of the lighter, yellowish greens – tints such as Apple, Lime, or even Pistachio. These, in contrast to darker Forest greens, are better skilled at making a kitchen seem more open and visually spacious – so, what’s not to love here?

4. Kitchen floor colours 2019: Earthy hues

It seems that the 2019 colour trend for kitchen floors leans more towards an earthy look; therefore, flooring colours and materials in browns and beiges are ideal, which means wood and laminate are in!

And since these earthy hues perfectly complement the reds, yellows and greens that are recommended for next year, we approve!

5. Kitchen floor colours 2019: Whites

But just in case you were worried that those browns will visually shrink your space, you have another option for your kitchen floor in 2019: white! True, white floors tend to show dirt and smudges easier than other hues, but keep in mind that there are a multitude of off-whites and creams that can also be perfect for your kitchen flooring, regardless of whether you opt for ceramic tiles or soft-tinted wooden floors.

6. Kitchen colours 2019: Blue

Great news for those wishing to bestow a nautical or broody look onto their kitchens next year: blue, in all its various personalities (bold navy, cheery arctic, elegant peacock, etc.) are also accepted. However, the lighter blues are recommended for furnishings and walls, while the darker tints should be steered towards cabinetry.

7. Kitchen colours 2019: Grey

A lover of neutral palettes? Rejoice, for grey is still trendy!

Personally, we recommend a bluish grey to lend a daring look to a kitchen, especially when it’s combined with white, golden and black surfaces. However, since there are thousands of greys to pick from, you are bound to find the ideal one (Shadow, Cloud, Fog, Charcoal… ) for your kitchen’s 2019 look.

8. Kitchen colours 2019: Grey and black

Keeping the monochrome look as timeless as ever is the black-and-grey combination – another colour trend that’s sure to be a smash hit with kitchens in 2019.

To make this look work, opt for stainless steel appliances (for the shiny grey) combined with dark grey tints for walls, countertops and/or floors. Just be sure to keep your lighting levels up – all those greys can surely make a kitchen seem smaller and more cramped, which is where lots of natural light and various artificial lighting fixtures will save the day!

Not too keen on these tints? There are many other options that are also trendy for next year with Pantone Colours: homify’s favourites for 2019.
