Spring is right around the corner (finally!), which means much more than packing away those mittens and scarves and digging out our sandals – it means getting your living space(s) all ready for a fresh new season!

As you know, here on homify we are just crazy about beauty, and we are always on the lookout for an excuse to style up an interior room or an exterior space. And what could be a better way to welcome back spring than by adding bursts of bright colours and energetic patterns to our houses to make spring feel right at home?

Perhaps all that interior beauty might convince it to stick around a bit longer this time?

1. Paint it pretty

A bucket of paint remains one of the easiest and most effective ways to style up a space. We recommend a springtime colour, like a soft violet or a vivacious orange, to lift those spirits. And you can paint either an accent wall or the entire room.

For a more substantial yet still easy makeover, start with two new accents for the room, such as window treatments, chairs, a light fixture, or a rug. Match a paint colour to your new duds, and with just three things, you can have a brand-new room.

2. Style up a seating spot

Carve out a sunny nook to refresh and recharge with a mini tabletop greenscape. A tray table makes it easy to move plants near a window's natural light.

Place plants that share light and watering needs, but vary in texture and colour, for a fresh spring display in a glass terrarium.

3. Tackle an old dresser

Refresh an old dresser, console or nightstand (either the one that’s been gathering dust in the garage or that vintage-style model you picked up at a flea market) with a fun paint effect, such as layering hues of the same main colour, or splashing contrasting tones on each drawer.

4. Wow them windows

Sometimes all you need to update a room for a new season is fresh window treatment. Use a pretty, floral-pattern Roman shade to turn a window into a work of art.

5. Prettify with some pattern

Deck out a room with some motif by opting for detailed wallpaper. Peel-and-stick options make the job easier, and removable wallpaper makes future updates so much quicker.

6. Bring in the garden hues

Greens aren’t only meant for exterior spaces. Start small by painting the bases of a pair of table lamps, or opt for a more dramatic display of green by reupholstering dining room chairs.

Complete the look with some potted plants and flowers to really enhance that room’s commitment to spring.

7. Floors that flow

Update your basic living room’s look with some colour and pattern via a new rug. Go with one that mimics tones found in other pieces like the curtains or décor, or opt for something that completely offsets with the rest of the room (note: there is a difference between “contrast” and “clash”).

8. Have a heavenly headboard

Add style to a headboard by wrapping it with a yard of colourful and/or patterned fabric. You can further enhance the look by adding some new scatter cushions which enhance the headboard’s motif/colours.

9. Liven up your living room

Create a casual living room that sings spring and brims with juicy citrus colours. Add brightly collared vases, spunky patterned pillows and rugs, and flea market finds to your space for a fresh feel without spending a fortune.
