If you can't quite commit to black and white – then why not go with brown and white? It practically meshes with everything!

2. Monochromatic chequered tiles

For an ultimately grand and elegant look, black and white chequered tiles are a classic choice – and they're rather affordable!

3. Monochromatic stripes

Combine chequered and striped floors like seen here to have a break-up in the patterns. It also helps designate certain spaces.

4. Texturised walls

Love this option but need something more budget-friendly? Consider texturised faux-stone overlays!

5. Minimalist bookshelves

What a great double stairway! It's chic, bright and offers a great double-deck bookshelf with spotlights.

6. Hanging pendant lights

For those of you working with high spaces, break the space up with hanging pendant lights hung at varying lengths.

7. Colours

Again, a great colour scheme goes a long way when it comes to entryways. Choose lighter colours on the bottom and more bold colours on top like in this great example.

8. Something whimsical

Similar to the staircase below, if staircases are part of your entryway, make them a design feature, not just an access point.

9. Greenery and nature

Add finery to the top and tropical plants on the bottom along with bamboo partitions and walls and you'll instantly have a place that both includes and respects nature.

10. A minimalist staircase

A staircase reminiscent to the work of Donald Judd will always be an interesting conversation starter and a show-stopper.

11. Light and bright storage

It's logical and practical to include cupboards and storage space in your entryway – but that doesn't mean it has to look drab.

12. An indoor garden

If you're looking for low-maintenance, choose an indoor rock and succulent garden like seen here!

13. A welcoming place to relax

Yes, colour and materials are all important aspects of an entryway, but so is the feel that you decide to give off. Simply by placing a seating area with a table and comfortable cushions, you can make your entryway a place to enjoy neighbors and unexpected company!

It's all about the details when it comes to entryway! Adding a sense of drama is important too – so make 2017 the year you take things above and beyond. A great and easy way to do this is to follow the Pantone 2017 colour trends – which we've featured right here at homify!
