The answer to the question of how to design a kitchen that is convenient and practical, is not easy. It should, however, make all cooking activities – cooking, washing, preparing –  be lighter and more fun when the kitchen space is properly planned.

Functional cabinets often determine whether the kitchen is convenient or not. Equally important are kitchen countertops, they must be properly designed, can not be something obstructed or obscured. It's all equally important to us, which is why today we have prepared thirteen tips on things that the kitchen does not need to have. Read and reorganise your kitchen!

1. Vases on the kitchen island

Vases on a kitchen island – although it looks spectacular as in this kitchen design, it is preferred that non-functional decorations are not in space, which is usually where you prepare meals.

2. Too many bowls of fruit

Having more than one bowl of fruit is not a good idea. Although they look nice, they take up valuable space in the kitchen - we can relocate them elsewhere, not necessarily on the worktop!

3. Books you don't used

Books, newspapers and magazines, which are no longer used can be placed in the library, or in another room. In this way, we will gain the free space on the tables or devices that you use most often. Not to mention making room for those cookbooks, which your constantly look inside and use.

4. Devices that are not used

Devices that are not used often should not be placed on the counter in the kitchen. One reason is that the device can get dirty and can be sprayed or splattered while cooking. In addition, the they take up valuable space and become uncomfortable items.

5. Collectibles

In smaller spaces, typical of modern life in large urban centers, it is important to think about collecting, because generally these items are not intended for everyday use. If our collection of vases, for example, begins to require us to sacrifice space in the kitchen, it's time to think about reducing it.

6. Some foods

Sometimes we get so many different items, juice bottles, jars and canned foods, that we forget about them. We do not remember to be systematically organised and make sure the foods are still suitable for consumption. Of course, most of these products have a long shelf life, but everything has an end. From time to time we need to check what is still edible and what is the shelf life.

7. The historic silver

The kitchen is no place for a set of silverware for inherited tea from your grandmother. Among other things, there is a risk of shock, scratches and dirt. It is better to place these precious treasures in the dining room and reveal them when we have guests.

8. Too many plants

Although plants are fun in any environment, they can not occupy too much space on the kitchen counter. One day, you may find that you have no place for peeling potatoes for dinner because the vegetation has grown. A good option, however, are hanging pots!

9. Pots and pans that aren't used

Dishes that are put on top catch dust and get dirty. This impedes daily function. And the kitchen is still a place that should be clean and sterile. It's always better to hide pots in pans in protective cabinets.

10. Newspapers and magazines on the dining table

Room for the daily paper is fine, on that day, otherwise, remove these items as they will only collect dust and dirt and be something that has to be removed and thrown away later.

11. Baskets, bowls and jugs

These items are practical, provide a homely appearance and often have great function – however, too many of them can easily collect unnnecessary dust nad make a kitchen look overly cluttered.

12. Carpet in the kitchen

Yes, you want your feet warm and comfortable during winter months while preparing food, but carpets are best left out of the kitchen. They collect dust, food messes and wet splatters which will ruin them in a few weeks time.

13. Knives and extra kitchen utensils

Find a proper place for extra knives and utensils that you're not using on a daily basis. These items are a safety hazard if not properly stored and can take up room for items used daily like soup ladles and silverware.
