Some of the most beautiful wood design features you can have include wood that is not new at all. There are plenty of facilities, old barns, etc; where you can gain access to old wood. One great way is to go to local lakes, ponds and quarries – often times, these natural resources contain wood that has sat underwater for long periods of time, giving the wood a soft, smooth and dark finish. Find companies that fish out these pieces of wood and obtain some for your newest project!

Especially in Asian-style homes, mixing different shades and types of wood can create a minimalist, modern effect. This Japanaese bungalow home shows all the fabulousness that wood interiors can offer!

2. Greenery

Of course we have to include greenery and plants on this list! It's always great to include items that are alive and require a sense of nurturing. Include succulents in areas of your home with more humidity and direct sunlight and choose fresh-cut bouquets in areas like bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms to show the effort you've put forth in the details.

Obviously, herbs are best for the kitchen so you can easily access them during cooking and baking!

3. Wicker furnishings

Wicker is a very special material and technique in many cultures. Normally used as a material for vessels, wicker is great to include in the functional areas of your home.

Place wicker baskets of various shapes and sizes in laundry areas, the kitchen floor any storage corridors – place anything from laundry to fresh fruits and vegetables in them for a multifunctional storage solution.

4. Raw wood
